Mobility Aids
We aim to provide tools for blind people to be able to move freely and independently through:
White Sticks
We provide white sticks for a small donation of 30 RON to visually impaired or blind people. A white stick can be the first tool to gain orientation, mobility and independence. Using it allows a visually impaired person to gain a picture of what is in front of them, to navigate around obstacles and to locate changes in elevation.
Guide Dogs for the Blind
We breed, train and provide Guide Dogs for the Blind to visually impaired or Blind people completely free of charge. For detailed information on our Guide Dogs please check out the Guide Dogs section of our website.
Orientation & Mobility Training
We welcome you to our office to learn some basic orientation and mobility training. This can include support in using a white stick, learning how to use sounds for orientation as well as building up mind maps of your environment. Contact us for further information.
Independent Living Skills Training
We hold sessions where visually impaired or blind young people can come and learn life skills that can aid them to live independently. We have trained young people in making a cup or tea, cooking pasta and sauce, preparing a fruit salad and of course clearing away and doing the washing up! Contact us if you are interested and we can let you know when our next set of sessions is planned.
